My previous job experience is this, I was a Campaign Caller at Citrus College in February 2004, this was a temporary job and I knew that I would only have this job for one month. I was making $8.00 an hour and I had free lunch or dinner depending on when I was working.

I was an Usher at the Haugh Performing Art Center at Citrus College from September 2004 to September 2005. I was laid off from this job because I was making too much money ($7. 34 an hour was too much), and I was told that younger, stronger, better workers would be better than I could ever be.

Time to look for a new job. The first jobs I went looking for were all off of my college campus (Citrus College is college that I attend) and all of them had said, "Do not call us, we will call you," when I was looking for a job.

A bit discouraged, I still go on looking for a job. At this time, I am making money online, I am making money by filling out some surveys, and selling Mary Kay here and there (Mary Kay is not the best way for every woman to make money, believe me).

I try getting a job at Citrus College. The first job I try to get is at the Owl Bookstore. I was not hired, but the female employer had the decency to give me a rejection letter.

A bit discouraged again, I press on.

I fill out an application at the Hayden Library at Citrus College. The Librarian seems nice and friendly at first and she says, "We will call you back, set up a schedule, and tell you when you need to work, okay?"

"Okay!" I say back, thinking that I have the job and all, right? Wrong?

I do not have the job. I wonder why I have not gotten the call back, and when I go back to the library to find out why here is what happens:

"Who are you?" asked the librarian.

"I filled out an application, and you said you would call me and talk about a schedule..." I reply to her.

"I know you filled out an application, but that did not mean that you got the job."

I could not believe how rude she was to me. I was distraught again, but I went back to Student Job Services, and I pressed on. I asked about two other jobs, that were not ready to hire me yet.

I was not going to wait. I went back to Student Job Services, and there it was right in front of me. The job that I was going to get.

Takeaways
  • Getting a new job.
