My son has Crohn's which took 14 years to diagnose. We are excited about this trial drug, as Crohn's has attacked his bone marrow, eyes, skin, lining of his heart, and lungs. I'd like to see more info. on this affect of Crohn's - its not just a bowel disease. He didn't quality for the trial because he was too high risk due to it attacking his bone marrow. He can't take immune suppresents, as his WBC is only 2800. Will be watching this trial closely; spread the word to other Chron's sufferers!

Hi, My 21 y/o son has had severe Crohn's for about 6 years now. No current treatments have worked for him. I am an RN and have always heard/been told, that diet , as a treatment, doesn't really affect it. Autoimmune disease runs in our family. My sister, her dgt, and granddgt have UC. My mother had Rheumatoid Arthritis. My son started on a strict diet called The Specific Carbohydrate Diet. We heard about it from a cousin whos son went into total remission on it. There is a book called Breaking the Viscious Cycle by Elaine Gottschild (sp). We got it on Amazon. He has been on this diet for a year and has had a lot of improvement. Not total remission, but better results than from any drugs he took. It is a very tough diet to stict to, but if it prevents a total colectomy it is worth it. That is what the MDs were wanting to do last year to my son. Prochymal sound promising. Wishing good luck to all who suffer from this disease.

I am looking for any help with crohn's. I am 28 and have had this disease for roughly 18 years. I am now on Humira (just over a year). I was on Remicade for 5 and a half. Taking Imuran also - been on that for just over 6 years. All other meds don't work or the side effects are so severe that the dr doesn't want me on them. Prednisone is one. Sugars run 500 and bp shoots up to stroke level (240/130 on several occasions). I will definately keep my eyes open for more info on this
