Al Qaida No. 2 Man Insults President-elect with Racial Slurs

In a newly released Al Qaida videotape, Ayman al-Zawahri insults President-elect Barack Obama with demeaning and derogatory racial slurs. Al-Zawahri has long been known as Al Qaida's "No. 2" man to Osama Bin Laden.

In the Al Qaida videotape, Al-Zawahri accuses Barack Obama of having the intentions to be (paraphrased) 'working for the white man'. This is an insult to all black Americans who voted for Obama on the basis that he will do

much to raise their profile and well-being in America, and also ironic because so many Americans see Obama as a man who can bring the races together while, hopefully, not catering to any voter base in particular.

According to an MSNBC report on the videotape, Al-Zawahri also accuses Obama of being against Islam and Muslims because Obama has a pro-Israel stance.

There is much irony here: First, because much to-do has been made over Obama's family background being partly Muslim. Next, because many Israelis and pro-Israel Americans fear that the new U.S. administration will make Israel give even more land back to the Palestinians.

Demands on Israel for land with hopes of Middle Eastern peace would be nothing new. President Clinton presided over talks requesting that Israel return land. In 1997, he felt that there would be no peace until the conflict between Israel and specifically Syria were solved.

And President George W. Bush devised the "Road Map for Peace" , which contains requirements for return of land by Israel to the Palestinians in exchange for a vast re-vamping by the Palestinian Authority toward peace. Yasser Arafat responded by appointing the controversial Mahmoud Abbas as his Prime Minister in charge of the dealings.

During Bush's presidency there has been much in-fighting between Israeli parties and governing authorities whether to vacate settlements; many Israelis had to abandon their homes in the Gaza strip. This sacrifice of land and homes did not produce peace; Islamic terrorist organizations have stated they will not stop until Israel is destroyed.

Where have you spent the last year, Brook Flagg? He's America's most controversial, most radical politician ever to enter the mainstream. Lots of haters always hate the President of the United States. Some haters hate that he's Black, some hate that he's also partly White, some hate that he's young for a president, some hate that he's old enough to be a president, and probably a LOT of haters hate that he looks better than they ever did or ever will. I don't think many haters understand even the level of discourse that gets keyed into the Change.gov web sites, but enough controversial buzzwords have been thrown around to set off lots of ticking hate bombs. And what is Al-Qaeda but the world's most obnoxious bunch of haters?

But I thought everyone in the world was supposed to start loving us now...after all, he's America's messiah (insert whiny voice).

Excellent article, Sheryl. What is truly amazing is that just a few months ago the terrorist community was hailing Obama as the best choice (now there is an endorsement most presidents would shudder to receive). But what should not be surprising is that ANYONE would insult our President (or President-elect), since our own Congress has pulled all the stops out in publicly insulting a sitting President time and time again.

Doesn't look like the Muslims are going to wait 'til "within 6 months" of the beginning of his term in office until they test him. Great article!

Sheryl, good reporting. (^;^) I also tend to question whether Al-Zawahri was actually present for the taping of this latest video since all we see are still photos. Technically, anyone could have made the latest Al Qaida videotape. I wonder if it is a fake. . .

Thought provoking article at a very scary time in history. Good job.

Very, very interesting. Makes me wonder though, how many of these videos are real and how many are propaganda...

I bet there are many Muslims who are as disgusted by Al Zawari as we are. Hopefully his broadcasts aren't being taken all that seriously anymore. :oP Some people ought to find something more constructive to do for their followers rather than just plotting more wars, ay? Thanks for another good reporting, Sheryl. :o)
