When I took a public speaking class, we focused on how to write speeches. Though no two speeches are ever the same, they are often built upon the same principles. In this article, I will discuss how to write a speech.

The first thing that you must know is that speeches are things that do not sound great unless they are shaped. You cannot go into a speech looking like a wooden board and your speech can not sound like it is as stiff as a board. You must make sure to shape your speech in a way that is interesting and informative.

If you want to have an effective speech, you must make a connection with your audience. It does not matter if what you are saying is some of the best material in the world. If you fail to meet with your audience on their level, your message will fall on deaf ears. You must come across as a guy or gal that is at ease. Nobody wants to listen to someone who sounds nervous. Likewise, if you look angry or mean, people will not want to listen to you. Come across as being calm, cool, happy, and confident. You are up there to deliver a message, but it should be a little bit of fun, as well.

If you want the folks to take you seriously at the microphone, you have to gain some credibility in their eyes. How do you accomplish that? It is pretty simple. You have to be passionate about your topic and have a good knowledge of it. In addition to that, you should be able to show that passion to the audience. If they can see your strong feelings, they are more likely to consider what you are saying.

One thing that most people do not understand when it comes to speech-giving is that they must have fluid transitions. Your points are obviously important, but you should be able to go from one point to another. If you do not accomplish this, then people will not see how one thing is associated with the other. In this case, you will lose their attention for good.
