Queen Raqui (584 Lbs and 6-4) Sends Dangerous Message to Overweight Women
Queen Raqui weighs 584 pounds, is spankin' proud of her size, and stands 6-4. And she wants all morbidly obese women to embrace their size. Queen Raqui (pronounced Rah-KEE, with emphasis on the "KEE") appeared on the "Tyra Banks Show" this past spring, and informed the audience: "I am
not unhealthy." This was after Queen Raqui had visible difficulty walking on stage. Queen Raqui is 33, has a very pretty face, and claims to be able to lift a 350-pound man.
When I see Queen Raqui, she looks like one of those morbidly obese women I see on TLC's "Big Medicine," the medical show about gastric bypass surgery. These women look anything but strong and healthy. Queen Raqui is getting by, for now, because of her relative youth. On "Tyra," she debated an 88-pound woman in the audience about size acceptance and health. The woman said she was 88 pounds -- and her arms were ugly-thin, though I must say that the rest of her looked more like 120 pounds. Anyways, Queen Raqui began announcing that her cholesterol numbers were great, her blood pressure was low, and "I watch my salt."
Will you be walking, Queen Raqui, 10 years from now, without a walker? Will you be on "Big Medicine" 10 years from now, being shown getting around in a scooter? I'm all for walking down the street with self-confidence and not letting strangers' stares or nasty comments ruin your self-esteem. But Queen Raqui crosses the line when she says she's healthy, that very fat women can be healthy, and that to disagree with her is to disrespect her.
When the 88-pound woman went on about how unhealthy morbid obesity is, Queen Raqui got angry and said (paraphrasing), "Do not disrespect me! You do NOT go around disrespecting people!" And Queen Raqui's exact words: "I am five times the human and deserve five times the respect!" And the audience cheered.
