Ithaca, New York is home to two colleges, Cornell University and Ithaca College. If you are planning on coming to college, just visiting the area, or planning to relocate here, there are many events and establishments that are sure to make your stay memorable.If arrive by airplane, you will most likely fly into the Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport. If you are staying at a nearby hotel, you can inquire about complimentary transportation, as many hotels offer this service to guests. The Courtyard at Marriott is located less than one mile away from the airport. If you are interested in traveling to the downtown Ithaca area, there are numerous hotels around. A few of the hotels located downtown include the Holiday Inn, Meadow Court Inn, Hampton Inn, and more. Hertz and Avis have car rentals available at the airport and there are more car rental locations throughout the downtown area.
If you have just moved into the area and are interesting in getting out and meeting new people, there are lots of places to go. If you love the theatre, you have numerous choices. Ithaca is locally famous for their plays and performances, which are often geared for the whole family. You can catch a show at the Kitchen Theatre, Hangar Theatre, or the State Theatre.
Ithaca has a wide selection of amazing stores for shopping. Located up towards the Tompkins Regional Airport way is the Pyramid Mall. The Pyramid Mall has a wide variety of stores and services. A few of the stores located inside the mall include Best Buy, Victoria's Secret, Pac Sun, American Eagle, Sears, Old Navy, Gap, Kay Jewelers, and many more. The Ithaca Commons is another location popular for shopping and dining. The Ithaca Commons is located downtown. The Commons is an shopping area that has a nice outdoor setting and is the home to many locally owned and operated businesses. There are many gift stores, used book stores, clothing stores, and other services. Many of the restaurants offer outdoor seating as well as indoor.
