One of the top tourist destinations this summer for both relaxation and entertainment is the Bahamas. There, travelers will find hot sun, beautiful white sand, and some of the clearest ocean water in the Caribbean. When you and your family are not taking in the rays on the beach, what else is there to do? The Bahamas aren't popular just for their beaches. There's also much to do and much to see on these beautiful islands.

One of the driving forces behind the booming Bohemian tourism industry is the fact that the taxes are somewhat relaxed. While many of the tax laws are similar to that of Switzerland, prompting some to retire there with a hefty inheritance, the common traveler can take advantage of these regulations when they visit the shops and stores around Nassau. There, tourists can enjoy good shopping without all of those pesky sales taxes. New Providence Island and Nassau are the nation's banking and finance centers, so many nice businesses make their home there.

For the best shopping, go where the rest of the tourists go. Cruise ships often drop off hoards of people at Prince George's Warf in Nassau and they enjoy it for good reason. There, the vibrant culture of the Bahamas is on display with a number of shops selling any product that you could imagine. Another great place to head if you are looking to shop is the Street Shops on Nassau's Bay. There, you can visit a temporary straw market that has been resurrected in place of the old famous straw market that was destroyed in a 2001 fire.

If shopping's not your thing or you get a little tired of that scene, then there's another great attraction that you could take in. Just east of Nassau, many folks love to see the sights and hear the sounds at Potter's Cay Dock. There, the local fishermen bring in tons of fish and the local culture is on fantastic display.
