Each year, more and more tourists make their way down to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for vacation season. I've been lucky enough to have lived within an hour of that beach for the better part of my lifetime, so it doesn't seem like vacationland to me. For me and my family, Myrtle Beach was something that was always there and we kind of took it for granted. With that familiarity comes a degree of inside knowledge, though. Most tourists are overwhelmed by the sheer mass of things available at their disposal when they vacation on South Carolina's Grand Strand. The restaurants are specifically overwhelming if you don't know where to go. While it's probably true that any choice will end up being a pretty good one, there are some places where the locals go and are the best on the beach.

Mornings in Myrtle Beach are beautiful as the sun rises over the ocean. If you're down there, it's a good idea to be up in time to catch this. If you're smart, you'll combine this experience with an excellent breakfast spot. Don't be fooled by some of the trendier restaurants in town, there's only one place to get the best experience in town. It will be a twenty minute drive from central Myrtle Beach, but travelers should make the ride down to the Surfside Pier in Surfside Beach to have breakfast at a place called Nibil's. Nibil's restaurant has been owned and operated by some of the nicest folks in town for the better part of forty years. The owners are Irish and their Irish heritage is on display throughout the restaurant. There, you'll be seated with a beautiful view of the ocean. The place might not look like much, but the people are friendly, the food is to die for, and view is unbelievable. This is one place that is certainly worth the drive. When you finish the meal at Nibil's, take some time to walk down the pier or head down to the beach to get some sand in your toes.
