No matter how good you are at your job in Final Fantasy XI, you have to fight Maat in order to reach your highest limits in the game, which is breaching the final level barrier. However, every job has a different battle experience when fighting Maat. This guide helps the Samurai job class when going head-to-head with Maat himself.

Maat at first sight is an old man, but he is very tough. Maat holds all of the limit break quests, and is located at the far Northern end of Ru'Lude Gardens. When you run through that small palace/theatre type building and come to an intersection, make that right and he is right there, as plain as can be.

There are a few items I suggest taking with you on this battle. These are not necessary, but I find them personally helpful in emergency situations:

-Icarus Wing: This consumable item automatically gives you 100 TP. Take this item incase you need to throw in another weapon skill to defeat Maat, althought most people don't need it.

-Vile Elixer (+1): This consumable item instantly restores some HP (and MP). Take this item incase you run low on HP and you think you'll need it.

-Sole Sush (+1)i: This is a consumable food item that raises some important stats, especially accuracy. Accuracy, Attack, and Strength are the most important stats in my mind for Samurai. But without the accuracy to hit something, it doesn't matter how hard you're swinging if you're not making contact. If you can dish out the gil, get Sole Sushi +1.

-Blink Band: This head armor item gives the enchantment of Blink. This is somewhat a controversial item to bring due to the Seigan update which may be better. In my Maat fight I used this headband, and it didn't stack with Seigan either.

When you enter the Burning Circle you lose your subjob, so you're stuck with Samurai abilities and traits only, so be aware there's no double attack, berserk, jump, high jump, attack bonus, accuracy bonus, ect.
