As a Scot with a real Scottish accent, unlike Tony Blair who is most certainly not much of a Scot, I grew up in an oppressed environment. That is to say, the Scots feel that they have been raped and pillaged by the English for centuries. Even speaking with a Scottish accent will stop you from getting a job in England; there is open discrimination! It is definitely time for us to take back our country. Scotland should be an example to America - and the split should not be something to be frowned upon. America is not united in the same way, it doesn't have a national health system per se. It is more similar to a group of independent countries with a group of Kings / Imperialists.

Since gaining our economic independence we (Scotland) have 50 percent of women in our little parliament. We used our heads this time and have won back our freedom with words not blood. Now we face the total split and perhaps will start making revenue from the oil that has been used to make England rich. There is little to compare between America and Scotland, Scotland is an old country and America is a very new country. When making this kind of comparison one has to take into account the history of the situation.

Did You Know?
With the ice caps melting rapidly in these changing times, there is only one fresh water supply that sits high enough not to be contaminated. Ooh - is that near Afghanistan?

I guess you didn't read it properly if you think this article reeks of hatred for American Culture. It simply questions America's hatred of its own people and it's desire to force that hatred upon others - which only causes it to be viewed by other cultures with fear and dismay.

You make it seem like this country is such a bad place. Why is it that so many people want to come here and live? Your comments about American Culture reek of hatred.
