Ann Coulter's Jaw is Wired Shut

Still, Think About the Things that Ann Coulter Has Said

Ann Coulter, among the most loud-mouthed of conservative pundits, broke her jaw in a fall and now she can't talk for a few weeks. This is all supposed to be so funny. But is it?

My long-time reaction toward Ann Coulter was that most everyone, conservative and liberal alike, realized she was a joke. But then last year she visited my hometown of Saginaw, Mich., and she was taken at face value. The hometown newspaper featured
Ann Coulter's Jaw is Wired Shut
Ann Coulter as a legitimate conservative commentator, the same as they might have covered George Will, let's say, or David Gergen. So did the TV and radio stations.

Apparently Ann Coulter did not say anything super-crazy during her Saginaw visit. Her remarks were the usual stuff about patriotic conservatives. None of the reporters really explored Ann Coulter's background.

This means, all jokes about the broken jaw aside, that the Ann Coulter background should be brought to light.

- During the 1990s, Ann Coulter was working for MSNBC and conducted an interview with Robert Muller, a disabled Vietnam veteran who co-founded the International Campaign to Ban Landmines. Coulter expressed a view that a good soldier would know how to avoid the mines. "No wonder you guys lost," she told Muller. (She later said she did not know Muller was disabled, for what it's worth.)

- Ann Coulter's remark on Timothy McVeigh's 1994 bombing of the federal building in Oklahoma City: "My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times Building."

- Ann Coulter's writings after 9/11: "We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren't punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That's war. And this is war."

- In her 2003 book, "Treason," Ann Coulter reported that Sen. Joseph McCarthy was accurate in many of his assertions that hundreds of American leaders during the 1950s were Communist agents in the employment of the Soviet Union. Therefore, McCarthy should not have faced disgrace. Her book made The New York Times Best Sellers List.

LIberals may be willing to be reasonable, but they are not stupid enough to wish their enemies well. They can't be as compassionate as Jesus, but they are responsible for the United States no being a British colony.Conservative really means conserve the power structure as it is, and increase their wealth.

It amazes me how those who claim to be compassionate (liberals) wish ill and revel in the pain of others because they disagree with them. Of course anytime a conservative speaks they're the hate monger. At least you're showing your true colors.

That's truly karma in action.

Excellent, Michael. I wrote on the same topic. I also mentioned that she had a new book coming out, which means she didn't break her hand... I forgot all about that intolerant WASP line of hers. The woman is disgusting and far too many people think she's amusing. Speaking a librarian one day about political commentary books, she suggested I read Ann Coulter because she was so funny. This from a woman (the librarian) with a college degree. In fact, when reading her book, "Treason," the first 20 pages were so loaded with ad hominem attacks and spuriously childish remarks, I simply could not go on. I have read "Mein Kampf" and Goldwater's "Conscience of a Conservative," Bill O'Reilly's "Who's Looking Out For You?", and Michael Savage's "Savage Nation." Her books are hateful, puerile paperweights. At least these guys attempted rational argument...

Ann Coulter just wants to sell books so she says angry disgusting things. She brings attention onto herself the same way the bratty kid in the 3rd grade did; loudly, unpleasantly and often. There has always been publicity hounds like her and unfortunately, there always will be.

Interesting article; Stu needs to get a life though. Coulter is the quintessential verbal bomb thrower; other than Hannity, I don't know of any reputable (or would be reputable) right wingers or conservatives who take her serious beyond the entertainment value she offers. Consider her the Bill Maher of the right.

I hope they wired her vagina closed too, and superglued it as a backup. Nother would be worse than for her to breed more evil spawn like herself
