Being a single parent have its up and downs. However, just because daddy is no longer home to complete your family thins Valentines Day, that doesn't mean that you and your kids could not have some quality time together. Spending Valentines Day with your kids could be a lot of fun so go ahead and make some plans on how you and your kids could spend the day together. When planning for your day with your kids, make sure that you involve them during the planning. Letting the kids help in planning what to do on Valentines Day would make them more excited of the activities. Besides, letting your kids help out in planning things for the family would be a good start in teaching them about responsibility.
One of the things that you can consider when planning for you day with your kids is to do some Valentines craft. Kids are always very interested in arts and crafts so you won't have much trouble convincing them to do some arts and crafts with you. Doing origami with your kids could be very interesting. The good thing about origami is that it will awaken the creativity of your kids. Origami is the Japanese art of folding paper and creating some really interesting shapes. There are many books containing different patterns for origami so you need not worry about finding something really interesting for your kids to work on. In fact, there are many origami shapes that would go well with valentines themes.
Aside from doing some origami with your kids, you can also ask you kids to help you bake something in the kitchen. Kids usually love to make themselves useful especially when it comes to mixing things up so give them something to do. If you are baking some cookies, let them help you mix the ingredients and prepare the dough. Give everyone a small piece of dough for him or her to knead. Show your kids how to do things so that they will have some ideas on how to perform the task. You can keep the big chuck of the dough so that you can still make enough cookies for everyone just in case the dough that your kids are working on would end up as waste.
