You Have Found Your Soulmate

You think that you are lonely,
As you sleep alone in your bed?
You wish for a one and only,
To be with you instead.

You want someone to talk to,
Someone to share your dreams.
They would love you,
And soften your screams.

You would make love,
Be held through the night,
Someone to dream of,
Calm every fright.

You would go out together,
Dance and commiserate,
You would drink and eat,
And never have to wait.

You would compliment each other,
And stay up late and play.
You would love, honor, and cherish,
And forever stay.

Wouldn't it be wonderful?
Wouldn't it be great?
Wouldn't it be lovely?
You can hardly wait.

But then there is reality,
For many you can be sure,
That there is never any more lonely,
Than those who have found the cure.

They love and live together,
In so called wedded bliss,
And somehow all the promises,
Have somehow been missed.

There is nothing more lonely,
Than lying next to one,
Who has forgotten to remember?
All the little things they've done.
And how that warms the embers.
And makes them feel as one.

Like, honey you look beautiful,
I want to be alone with you tonight.
I love you and I need you,
Makes everything all right.

Sharing dreams and fears,
And laughing with each other,
Wiping away tears,
And holding on to one another.

Dropping down defenses,
And loving with all your might,
Intimate glances,
And to be willing to fight,
To keep your love alive.

And always to remember,
And the hardest thing to do,
Is to hold on to each other,
And love as though it's new.
