Your wedding is one of the most important events in your life and the wedding venue you choose for your ceremony and reception is one of the most important decisions you'll make regarding your wedding.

A winery, a beach, a vineyard, a ballroom, a Victorian home, or _____? Wedding venues can be found just about everywhere now, with wineries and vineyards being the most popular. Ceremonies are sometimes done at the same site as the reception; often the ceremony will be held outdoors at one venue, then move (but on the same property) so the reception is done inside. Many ceremonies are still done in churches and the receptions are being held almost anywhere.

In this article I'll mention a few beautiful wedding venues near the town of Roseville located in the Sierra Nevada foothills above Sacramento. There are many outdoor activities to enjoy there and its proximity to California's capital city makes this a great place for your wedding guests to enjoy before and after your nuptials. Although Roseville is only about 15 miles northeast of Sacramento, in traffic the drive can take 45 minutes or an hour. Keep this in mind as you check out the facilities in the area.

The first beautiful wedding venue is The Victorian at Hemphill Mansion. This magnificent Victorian style home is located in the center of Historic Old Town Roseville. Built in 1909 as a private residence and society showplace, it later became the stagecoach depot and the bus terminal for the town. New owners took over the property several years ago and it's now a superb location for weddings and other special events. Its grounds are well-manicured and feature a few 100-foot tall palm trees (adorned with tiny white lights at night) and a beautiful rose garden almost 100 years old.

Takeaways
  • Roseville is only about 15 miles northeast of Sacramento, in traffic the drive can take 45 minutes or an hour.
  • Many of these wedding venues book up very quickly, sometimes 18 to 24 months in advance. Please be sure to reserve your site as early as possible.
  • Remember to think about the weather - both the summer heat and the possibility of rain almost year round.
