Top 5 Busts of the 2008 Fantasy Football Season
The 2008 Fantasy Football season has seen many former first round draft picks fall flat on their faces. With only a few weeks left in the NFL season - it is time to pick the Top 5 Busts of 2008. All statistics in this article were pulled from http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl.
1. DARREN MCFADDEN | RB | OAKLAND RAIDERS | - Mcfadden was highly touted in the 2008 NFL Draft. People all around fantasy football thought he was going to put up Adrian Peterson like numbers in
his rookie season - including myself. This ultimately led to me wasting a first round pick on him - boy what a mistake. To the disappointment of many Mcfadden has failed miserably in his rookie campaign. In 8 games this season Mcfadden has 80 carries and is averaging a dismal 49 yards per game. Although also averaging 4.9 yards a carry, Mcfadden has amassed only 392 yards rushing on the season - which is only 96 yards more than what Adrian Peterson put up in a single game vs. the San Diego Chargers last year. This earns him the title of Top Fantasy Football Bust of 2008.
2. VINCE YOUNG | QB | TENNESSEE TITANS | - Young went from being on the cover of Madden 08 to being put on suicide watch by his coach, Jeff Fisher. Although maybe not a first round pick, Young was expected to be a very solid fantasy pick. Young played in 2 games this season before injuring his knee and being benched for the rest of the season in favor of Kerry Collins. With the Titans holding a 11-1 record - the only time we will be seeing Vince Young in the near future is taking a knee at the end of a blowout game - like on Thanksgiving vs. the Lions.
3. EDGERRIN JAMES | RB | ARIZONA CARDINALS | - James entered the 2008 season with the reputation of a reliable fantasy back - posting 5 straight 1,000+ yard seasons. However this season, in my opinion, has been his worst. In 10 games James has rushed for 384 yards on 112 carries and only 3 touchdowns. James is on pace to have a career low in rushing yards this season. He will have to almost double his current amount of rushing yards over the final weeks of the season to surpass his current career low which is 662 yards in an injury-plagued, 6 game, 2001 season.
