This Valentine's Day, many teachers or parents will try to find a craft that kids can do to celebrate the holiday. With most kids being fascinated by snow globes, it's a natural fit to have them make a Valentine's Day snow globe. Here are the steps for making this simple craft that will keep kids interest long past the holiday.

First, you will need a clean, empty baby food jar. You will also need to find glitter, plumbers putty, two part epoxy, red spray paint, and some sort of Valentine's Day plastic floral pick or decoration. Make sure it is plastic since it will be underwater for a long period of time. It also needs to be small enough to fit inside a baby food jar without any trouble.

First, you will need to spray paint the lid. This is for appearances, and you can use any color you want, although for Valentine's Day, red is a good choice. After the paint is dry, take the plumbers putty and roll a ball with it. Mash it down into the baby food jar lid, without getting it near the edges. Then, insert the base of the plastic decoration that you've found. Make sure the putty is holding the pick securely and then set it aside so that it can dry. It may take a while to dry, so be sure to begin this with several days to spare.

After the putty is dry, insert it carefully into the baby food jar and screw the lid on. You want to make sure that it fits without rubbing against the edge. If it does, you will need to start over again. After ensuring the fit, remove the lid and set it aside. Fill your jar most of the way full of water, allowing for a little displacement when you insert the pick. Then sprinkle some glitter in. There should be a decent amount of glitter, but not so much that it is overwhelming.
