Dice Lampshade Craft Project for Your Game Room

This simple game board dice coated lampshade craft project is a great way to remake any old lampshade into a new design feature in your family room for your weekly poker game, game night with the family, and even when you have folks over to catch a round of the World Series of poker on TV. You can use any old or damage fabric lampshade as the base for this project to save money.

To make a Poker Themed Dice lampshade you will need:

Fabric Lamp Shade

Sheet of acetate

Clear hot glue

Red dice with White dots

Scissors

Black marker

If you are lucky enough to find a plastic lampshade you can skip this follow step and start gluing the red and white dice on.

If not, the first step is to completely remove all of the fabric from your damaged or existing lampshade. Start by poking some scissors through the fabric, then cut away. Once you have the body of the fabric removed then start working on the material wrapped onto the wires. This will take some time, but is a great way to save a little money and salvage and exiting lampshade.

Tip: If you don't have a damaged or existing lampshade you want to get rid of you can buy these wire frames of a lampshade at any lampshade store. Some arts and crafts stores will also sell them.

Now, you need to cut out a plastic shade to glue back onto the wire frame you have left over. You can do this by using a sheet of acetate. You can buy clear acetate or colored acetate.

Now, take your piece of acetate. Lay it out on a table. Lay your wire lampshade form on the acetate on its side. Start rolling it and tracing with the marker to get the form.

Now, use your scissors o cut out the sheet of acetate. I like to cut slightly inside of the line of the marker so it is not left when you cut out the form.

Now, use your hot glue. Run a bead of glue around the top and bottom wires of the lampshade. Press the pieces of plastic acetate into place.

Now, start gluing on your red and white Poker dice. Be sure to play around with the pattern of dots showing out. If you want though you could alternate and have everyone other one with 1 or 2, sort of like a checkered board effect.
