Romantic Weekend Escapes Near Hickory, North Carolina

Looking for a Romantic Weekend escape near Hickory North Carolina? Well you have come to the right place. I have lived near Hickory for over 30 years. I have also been a delivery driver in North Carolina for the last 8. I have been all over the state on my jobs and know lots of nice places.

An ideal getaway for me is to go to the Blue Ridge Parkway and do some sightseeing. After driving for as much as we like, we slip off the parkway and go find a Bed and Breakfast to stay at. You can get to the Parkway from Hickory in an hour or so. Here are some of the better Bed and Breakfasts within driving distance of Hickory.

The Inn at Hickory

The first one is IN Hickory North Carolina. It's a nice quiet getaway. Only one of their rooms even has a television. The Inn is a 1908 Georgian Colonial style building. It has an AV room with a large flat screen TV. They also have a library of DVDs to choose from. You can take a walk on the spacious grounds and see their gardens and fruit trees. For an additional charge you can even bring your pets.

Maple Lodge Inn

Located in down town Blowing Rock 2 hours or less from Hickory. An English Country style house with 11 rooms to choose from. All have private baths and Air Conditioning. They have a library with a stone fireplace to relax in. Or visit the drawing room with game tables. They will be happy to help you map out a walking tour of the area. There is a complimentary full breakfast and afternoon tea.

The Lazy Bear Lodge

Located in Valle Crucis North Carolina, just off the Parkway and near Boone. They are a mile and a half from the famous Mast General Store. The lodge is a 2 story bed and breakfast. They have a large porch to sit on and enjoy the view. Also they have 5 private guest rooms each with a private bath. All the rooms are furnished with either hand made or antique furniture.

Blowing Rock Victorian Inn

Located in Blowing Rock North Carolina. Known as the Grand lady of the village. This Inn is one of the most photographed locations in the mountains of NC. Each room has a queen or king sized bed, private entrance and bath. Some rooms have 2 person whirl pools and some have fireplaces.
