Where is Osama Bin Laden? Osama Mastermind of Mumbai, India Attacks?

ABC news states that in 2007 the CIA warned that Osama bin Laden is in Pakistan and he has al Qaeda training camps. Mike McConnell, Director of National Intelligence at the CIA, stated that Osama is: "attempting to re-build, re-establish and to establish

training camps." MSNBC news adds that Osama's location is believed to be: "in a mud walled compound at the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan."

The last video was Osama bin Laden was in October of 2004, shortly before America's presidential election. MSNBC reports that Osama is now, in the year 2008, age 51. Speculation is rampant about whether he is still alive or not.

Mumbai, India Attacks

Was Osama bin Laden the mastermind of the Mumbai, India attacks? The attacks seem to have many hallmarks of al Qaeda. They attacks involved in multiple locations, in quick succession. Eye witness accounts say that the gunmen attempted to separate out the American and British tourists at the hotels. This may be the number one sign these attacks were planned by Osama bin Laden.

The attacks also utilized the lackadaisical nature of India's security just as they did in NYC. Gunmen brazenly walked through train stations shooting freely. Then the government announced that commandos were being sent to Mumbai from the capital, a two-hour trip. The terrorists had electronic devices to track reports on the media; thus they had full knowledge that commandos would not be arriving for quite some time. The gunmen were better organized than the government it seems.

Al Qaeda takes advantage of open societies to use the element of surprise to kill and create mayhem. Once again the government did not react quickly enough to prevent massive loss of life. Just as after 9/11 the world watches the havoc of the attacks and wonders how gunmen could strike in so many places without immediate reaction from commandos. Mumbai is the financial capital of India. It seems ludicrous to not have commando stationed there. Every financial capital in the world should have commandos ready to deploy immediately in a crisis and a disaster plan that is updated regularly and practiced regularly.

Hopefully Al Qaeda is being decimated little by little but its hard to tell.. this is a serious way and we should never forget all those who were killed on 9/11

Pssst....Bin Laden is more than likely living out his days painfully due to kidney disease and is living his days counting his dialysis treatments. The US will never kill him. Politically and strategically, the man would become a martyr and every freak would crawl out of the caves they hide in and try to carry on his "legacy". Better to let him die a painful death...

I do hope they get to the bottom of this

Carol, just saw on MSNBC that the terrorists are from Pakistan, in groups with links to al Qaeda... time will tell.

Interesting. What is the CIA saying about the Mumbai attacks and any potential link to Bin Laden? So far the news seems to indicate that he is not behind these particular attacks. Regardless, you make some valid points about the importance of keeping the public informed. I hope the Obama focuses a great deal of effort on diplomacy and mending international relations which may go a long way in the long run toward reducing the underpinnings of terrorism.

It will be better late than never when Osama Bin Laden is no longer at large, but it is unfortunate that he has had these years since 9/11 to further train and teach others of his sinister methods.
