Why is Scarlett Johansson Considered Such a Great Beauty?

Not too long ago I created quite a stir by publishing an article that called into question why everyone goes on and on about Halle Berry's beauty and acting talent. While I never at any point said that Halle Berry isn't attractive at all, I did raise questions about why she is treated as if she's the hottest female star to ever hit Hollywood. Frankly, I just think she's kind of plain. Maybe I was just being naïve, but I really didn't expect to get hit with accusations of racism, but alas I was. Frankly, I considered this to be rather odd since Halle Berry doesn't exactly look as if she just stepped out of Nigeria; she's a rather lightly colored woman of color. However, the problem was all mine; I accept responsibility for having compared Ms. Berry's beauty only to white women. I really don't expect racism to be the focus of this follow-up article, but who knows?

Why is Scarlett Johansson considered such hot stuff? Just in case you're wondering, yes, I do consider Halle Berry to be more attractive than Scarlett Johansson. And, frankly, by a wide margin. As much as I don't get the attention given to Halle Berry in the beauty department, I am consistently stunned by the attention given to Johansson. When she was named the Sexist Woman Alive in 2006 by some magazine-the fact that the periodical named Johansson the sexiest woman alive disqualifies them being worthy of being mentioned by name-I nearly vomited. Okay, not really, but I had to look twice to make sure it wasn't some kind of Onion parody. I don't want to sit here and give a critique of Scarlett Johansson's face or body because it would be pointless; either you agree that she's hot stuff or you don't. Maybe it's simply a case of my not being that familiar with her. I must confess the only Scarlett Johansson movie I've seen-aside from the tragic SpongeBob SquarePants Movie-is The Man Who Wasn't There. I didn't even know it was her! So I cannot comment on her acting ability, but I have seen her on magazine covers and movie trailers and such and, well, I just don't get it.

Now that's a great beauty!

I think comparing Scarlett with Charlize Theron is ridiculous. Charlize Theron is gorgeous and Scarlett is just cute.

I agree with Maddie, not every guy considers Scarlett as beautiful. Most british men don't find her attractive and it doesn't mean that british are mostly gay.I don't get her appeal too, she is boring and to be blunt her face is not attractive. All that she has is her breasts that she keeps on blabbering about. I don't find her as classy at all. She somewhat is quiet trashy. And if she wants herself to be count as the new Marilyn Monroe then she can continue to be dreaming and wake up one day realizing she won't be Ms. Monroe, not even as half beautiful as Monroe.

Scarlett is a cute girl at most but not stunningly beautiful or exceptionally sexy. She is in fact somewhat odd looking with respect to her facial features and her body is awkward looking as well. She particulary looks ridiculous when she hoists her cleavage up to her chin. That is not sexy is just looks stupid. The media and her publicists try to convince the public that she bears resemblance to icons from the past but she does not even come close. Halle Berry is very overated with respect to her looks. She has cute symmetrical features but nothing exceptionally stunning. She is also rather short limbed and does not always wear the most flattering outfits. It absolutely has nothing to do with racism, if one considers her to be less attractive it has to do with personal tastes. For some she is a 5 for other's she is a 10. There are plenty of women of colour that are much much more attractive than she.

I think Scarlett Johanssen is beautiful and she is a good actress - but I can understand why you would think not. Not everyone has the same idea of beauty. I do agree with Halle Berry being over-rated, and I also do not think Angelina Jolie is the most beautiful person alive like the person below me thinks. That is definitely an overstatement. She is one of the most frail looking people I have ever seen.

Scarlet is reasonably pretty. Not beautiful, but she's pretty enough. Oh, and comparing her lips to Angelia Jolie's and saying that they are "ugly"?!!!! Are you kidding? Who wants thin, pale lips? Geez. I'm tired of people hating on Angelina-she is the most beautiful woman in the world, and her lips are gorgeous. As for Halle Berry, she barely gets an 8 from me.

If a guy does not think scarlett is hot does not make him gay. That is just so dumb. Not everyone is attracted to her. Just because u like her doesn't mean every living human has to be attracted to her.

Scarlett is only known for her boobs not her talent which in that case she isn't all that great acting. Big boobs doesn't necessarily mean u r beautifull and hot. My grandma has big boobs but no one sure isn't saying she is hot.

You're obviously gay if you don't see that Scarlett is a beautiful women.

c'mon, Tim...she's not that bad...and Charlize Theron is a hottie...in the eye of the beholder, eh?

I agree. Halle has average looks and average talent. Scarlett is ugly and I don't think is a good actress either.
