A Tribute to American Soldiers
There are many ways to pay tribute to the courage and heroism of America's soldiers. Normally tributes take the form of an eloquent speech by a public official who praises their efforts and salutes their steadfast determination to defend America. These types of speeches become a matter
of public record and are reprinted in newspapers or are the subject of "sound bites" on the evening news.
However, the real tributes are often buried deep in the news, if printed at all and never become part of the public record.
Here is a tribute to our soldiers written by a French soldier serving in Afghanistan. To anyone who has served or has had a family member deployed in the war against terrorism, it is a tribute of the highest order. It is eloquent in its simplicity, speaks to the heart of being a soldier, and is a testament to the indomitable spirit of those who are called to serve our nation.
