Moshe Holzberg is Orphaned and the World Cries
Date: December 2, 2008The world cries for the six Jews murdered at the Nariman Chabad House and for Moshe who will grow up knowing his parents were killed because of their Jewish religion. The Rabbi Gavriel Holzberg, age 29, and his wife, Rivkah, age 28, created Chabad House and lived a life that was spiritual and devoted to sharing their religion and nurturing its growth. They were Chabad-Lubavitch emissaries in Mumbai, India.
The Holzbergs accomplished much in their short lives. They lived in a world where giving to others and nurturing their faith was their purpose in life. Gavriel and Rivkah were mahatmas (great souls) who were wise and high minded and worked to better the world.
Our world is weakened by the loss of their lives. Our hearts are broken by the news that their child is now an orphan. Our minds reel at the thought that too many children worldwide will grow up with the harsh realism that the world contains evil people who hate and murder others simply for who they are.
Why, Why, Why ?
The BBC reports that about 10,000 mourners attended the funeral for the Holzbergs. A rabbi asked "Why, Why, Why?" That is the question in the hearts and minds of all caring people in the world. Why does such hatred exist? Why can human beings be so evil to wage war on a family simply for their religion? How is it humanly possible to murder parents and leave a small child orphaned?
Victims Tortured Before Execution
The Telegraph reports that "Doctors expressed horror at the condition of the bodies recovered from the Nariman Building." The victims were tortured before being executed. A mortician said "It was apparent that most of the dead were tortured."
Peace, Shalom, Salaam. Pray for peace in this world.
