Mumbai Attack Victims Rabbi Gavriel and Rivkah Holzberg Buried on Jerusalem's Mount of Olives
Peace, Shalom, Salaam.The BBC reports that Moshe Holzberg has been crying for his parents since arriving in Israel. The two-year old may have witnessed his parents' murders. When he was taken out of the Chabad House Jewish cultural center in Mumbai his pants were soaked with their blood. Moshe was rescued by the nanny, Sandra Samuel.
The world cries for the six Jews murdered at the Nariman Chabad House and for Moshe who will grow up knowing his parents were killed because of their Jewish religion. The Rabbi Gavriel Holzberg, age 29, and his wife, Rivkah, age 28, created Chabad House and lived a life that was spiritual and devoted to sharing their religion and nurturing its growth. They were Chabad-Lubavitch emissaries in Mumbai, India.
The Holzbergs accomplished much in their short lives. They lived in a world where giving to others and nurturing their faith was their purpose in life. Gavriel and Rivkah were mahatmas (great souls) who were wise and high minded and worked to better the world.
Our world is weakened by the loss of their lives. Our hearts are broken by the news that their child is now an orphan. Our minds reel at the thought that too many children worldwide will grow up with the harsh realism that the world contains evil people who hate and murder others simply for who they are.
Why, Why, Why ?
The BBC reports that about 10,000 mourners attended the funeral for the Holzbergs. A rabbi asked "Why, Why, Why?" That is the question in the hearts and minds of all caring people in the world. Why does such hatred exist? Why can human beings be so evil to wage war on a family simply for their religion? How is it humanly possible to murder parents and leave a small child orphaned?
Victims Tortured Before Execution
The Telegraph reports that "Doctors expressed horror at the condition of the bodies recovered from the Nariman Building." The victims were tortured before being executed. A mortician said "It was apparent that most of the dead were tortured."

May we all wake up through our heartache to the senseless murder of all these peoples and the orphaned child in all of us that remains when violence and murder takes away our capacity to care and nurture that which needs it, our precious, fragile, and tender lives.
Ever since I heard of this tragedy, it just tears at my heart. I feel achy inside -- physically. I pray that this little boy will grow up in a good home and turn into a man who isn't thoroughly eaten up by hatred and thoughts of revenge. Shalom to everyone.
This is such a sad occasion... and probably exactly what the terrorists want. Senseless!

With luck and what's left of his family, perhaps Moshe will forget the horrible things he has experienced. Thank God for his nanny and her bravery.
My heart goes out to this precious little boy and all the family. What a tragic loss! Why? Why? Why? Indeed!
