When Business and Pleasure Mix in the World of Sports

OK. So you made it to the "the big show." You are a star athlete and people follow you, look up to you, and respect you and your abilities. Then, you mix your personal life into the sporting world and you have let down your fans, your teammates, and your big wig bosses. Now what do you

do? These scenarios happen way too often in the world of sports. It has been especially prevelant in this past year.

Let us start with one of the most recent instinces that happen only in the past day.

Sean Avery, star player for the Dallas Stars. Now, it is no real shocker that he has come up with something new to piss off people, after all this isn't this bad boy's first appearance in the media. His most recent actions are the comments made about former girlfriends that are dating other hockey players in the NHL. He used the words "sloppy seconds," which was completely and utterly out of line. His comments were made before Dallas's next game and thankfully the NHL has responded with exactly the type of reprecutions that I was looking for. They have suspended him indefinetly. More importantly, I think that the Dallas Star's have lived up to respecting the fans and players of the NHL. In comments made after the Avery incident, the Dallas was quoted as saying that they would have suspended him if the league hadn't. This guy needs some serious help, there must be more repercussions to come after this. Let us move on to the NFL, which has had also another recent incident that has left a bad taste in the mouth of fans.
