Play dough has been popular to play with for years. Play dough is exactly what it is named after; Dough that can be played with. Kids love its squishy consistency and the way they can move it around to be whatever they want it to be. Children can get creative when they play with play dough and can show there true creative nature. Children can take a glob of play dough and shape it to show the way they feel or they can make it into a shape that they like. Play dough can be made into something and then it can be reshaped into something else. Play dough can be used over and over again. Play dough can last a long time

You can make your own homemade play dough easily. It can be a great activity for you to do with your child. Play dough is easy to make but it should be made by an adult. It doesn't take much time to make the play dough.

To make your own play dough you will need the following ingredients:

One cup flour
Half a cup of salt
Two teaspoons cream of tartar
One cup of water
Two tablespoons of oil
Food coloring in the color you want like green, yellow, red or blue.

Put all of the ingredients into a sauce pan and mix it all together. Over medium heat cook the ingredients until it can stick anymore. Take it off the heat and let it cool to the touch. Pour the ingredients out on a board or counter and knead it until it is smooth.

You can make a few different batched of play dough and make them into different colors. You can make any color you want to make.

Then the play dough is ready to use. You can play with it and make it into shapes. When you are not playing with it you can keep it in an airtight container till you are ready to use it again. Home made play dough will not last forever but it will last about a week. You can tell if the play dough has gone bad by if it is hard or if it is moldy.

Children love to play with play dough. It can be played with on a smooth surface like a table or a countertop. If you have a hard floor it can be played with on the floor. The play dough will stay as clean as the area it is used on so if you want the play dough to stay clean keep it on a clean surface.
