My Christian Prayer

Guardian angel, can you explain?
Why there is such hatred against God's name?
Can't all see the wonders He has wrought?
Or the value of the lessons He's taught?

I respect their rights not to believe
And hear the alternatives they conceive.
Why can't they return the same kindness?

What is really behind all that blindness?

True Christians know they've no right to judge.
So why do the others still hold a grudge?
There's always some who rotten the pot
But how does that mean the rest are for naught?

Will we never learn to get along?
And that there is no clear cut right or wrong?
Why do both sides call each other names?
Why do they persist in such childish games?

No matter our belief from whence we came,
Deep inside our souls we are all the same.
We have the same doubts and unsurety
About how and why we each came to be.

It hurts my heart to pick and to choose
No matter which way I turn, I will lose.
Will you please help me to understand?
How I can make a difference in this land?

Teach me to reach out to all my brothers
To let them know some aren't like the others.
We all must learn to live side by side;
Not only here, but also worldwide.

I'm willing to beg on bended knee
Or do anything else you ask of me.
Help me do something to fix this mess
And ask the Father each of us to bless.

Excellent poem, Char. It is all part of God's Plan. Those who fail to appreciate and honor The Master's preface, "In the beginning was The Word," soon will receive His terminal edit. Be Well, Michael

Jesus testifies that the works of the world are evil.

Nice job. It seems like Christians are all thrown in one pot, including those who carry the name, but not the spirituality. I don't think people understand the difference in spirituality and religion --- that is Christians and non-Christians -- So Christians get blamed for so many things. Another way to avoid pinning individual responsibility on individuals and allowing individuals not to accept responsibility for their actions. If everyone had this sentiment, we could all get along. Very nice job and expression of sentiment and beliefs.

The hatred is not against God but the forcing of religion upon those who don't want it. The hatred is against the use of religion to excuse bigotry and hatred. The hatred is against the use of religion to create religious laws for everyone - including those of different religions or no religion. The hatred is against using religion as an excuse to force religion into schools, removing science in the process. The hatred is against people using religion as an excuse to beat a gay man to death, to stone a young girl for being raped, to scream "God loves dead soldiers, burn in hell fags!" at funerals, to impose their morality on everyone, to kill people with different beliefs. I hate what people do in the name of religion. I don't hate God, I don't think it is real - do you hate unicorns? I will fight to the death to defend your freedom to practice your religious beliefs, however, whenever your religion is used to harm, to dictate, and to control others through coercion - I will fight that
