Boston Celtics or Cleveland Cavs? Who is the Beast of the East?

The 2007-2008 Boston Celtics had one of the best seasons in NBA history last year. Doc Rivers lead them to 66-16 record after many questioned whether or not they would be that good with a young point guard in Rajon

Rondo. However, their bench was quite impressive as well. Many people believe the Celtics would not have won the NBA championship if it were not for James Posey.

One year later, James Posey is gone. So this years team is worse right? Not necessarily. Kendrick Perkins and Rajon Rondo have another year of experience under their belt. Not to mention Leon Powe and "Big Baby" Davis. I believe with that with all this new experience this years Celtics will be even better than last years Celtics. So far this season, my theory is true. In twenty games this season, Boston is 18-2 but do they have enough to win the East.

The Cleveland Cavaliers gave the Boston Celtics a run for their money last season taking them to a game seven in the eastern conference semifinals. This past offseason they made a major acquisition in Mo Williams. Many people felt this transaction was enough to put the Cavs ahead of the Celtics in the East but on paper I still believe the Celtics have a better team. However, the Cavaliers have one of the best player's of all time in Lebron James and he is playing the best he has ever played in his career. With the combination of James playing at MVP level and the acquisition of Mo Williams, the Cavaliers are 15-3.

Who will be the best team in the East this year? In my opinion, I got to go with the defending champions. On any given night, Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, or Paul Pierce could light you up for 30 plus points. I still believe that the Cavaliers are still missing one more post player. That is why I am still picking a Boston/Lakers Finals rematch.
