Day One : Friday

Throughout the school day, classmates are being checked out early by concerned parents. My own rescue does not come until 2:15, when I am released from school at the regular Friday time. I engross myself in a book, and look forward to a three-day weekend of relaxation. Mental state seems normal, if not slightly excited. Survival is assured.

Day Two: Saturday

Because my younger sister is visiting our dad, my mother has rented movies for our fun-filled mother-daughter no little sister movie festival. She also puts away the various frozen and packaged foodstuffs that will last us the storm. I anticipate munching fun size Baby Ruths while watching one of the three rented videos. My mother is also attempting to build a fire.

Day Three: Sunday

There are no more movies to watch. My mother and I watched them all in one night. There are also no more Baby Ruths. We have opened the package of Milky Ways. Times are becoming desperate, but luckily I am journeying to a nearby friend's house to enjoy myself. She possesses even more movies than I do.

Day Four: Monday

I have returned from Katie's house. We spent the night watching extremely dramatic episodes of "Degrassi: The Next Generation". I am now overly concerned about the character Rick and his spiral into depression. Why did he have to shoot up the school and die? I wipe my tears away and solemnly read my chemistry book in preparation for school tomorrow.

Day Five: Tuesday

There is no school today. My little sister is stranded at my father's. My boyfriend braves the journey to my house. We play Sims 2 while resisting the urge to throw the Playstation out of the window. A Sim's life is no substitute for the life that has been stolen away by Father Winter.

After devouring a bowl of microwave pasta, I try to maintain muscle tone by playing Dance Dance Revolution. My arteries have weakened. I am no longer a dance master.

We are down to Three Musketeers.

Day Six: Wednesday
