I know I'm going to get flack for this (and actually I already did this weekend), so all the more reason to write about it! Yeah!

For those of you unaware, NYC has banned trans fat foods in all restaurants. Now let me first say that I'm all about eating healthy and such. Everything in moderation is my dietary motto. If you had McDonald's today, then don't have it again tomorrow. Duh. So I certainly understand the Board of Health's decision.

It doesn't irk me that foods will be removed and/or altered because of this ban, but moreso I'm upset that the administration is telling us what we can and cannot eat. It's my money, it's my body, and if I want to jack it up with trans fat, alcohol, cigarettes, and a whole bunch of unhealthy substances, then that's my perogative. If you don't want to, then that's your perogrative.

When I go out to a restaurant, the last thing I'm thinking about is how many calories and grams of fat are in each dish. I'm sure there are people who actually do that, but I'm not one of those people. I love food, and I love to try all kinds of food (as long as I'm not allergic to them). I want to get my money's worth when I go to a restaurant--carbs, fat, grease, and all. Sure, I'll probably be deliciously stuffed and tired afterwards, but like I said before, the next day, I know not to repeat myself.

Restrictions only make people want to do it more. Case in point--underage drinking. Helllloooooo. You're not allowed to buy or drink alcohol until you're 21? WTF? You can buy a gun, join the army, and vote for a bad President, BUT you cannot and will not drink alcohol! I don't understand this.

The article is accurate that we have the freedom of choice over what we put into our bodies, however the freedom is to be used responsibly. Your points take a one dmensional view and does not consider the advantages. In theory anyway there is the hope of positive knock on effect on the health services and society e.g. resources spent on treating heart attacks, obesity, cholesterol, reducing sick days, etc. On another note, your writing style is abusive, rude and aloof. You also have your freedom of expression, but use it responsibly. You did not consider all factors before you came to your opinion, ending the article by claiming complete ignorance while trying to make out the decision makers are the idiots. Stop pushing your ill conceived opinions on others and take a writing course.

Hi, very good article, but you are right, it's our choice to mess up our own bodies, I myself lost over 100 pounds eating a noodle-tuna-fish diet, which I wrote an arictle about. laterz.
