Teacher's Craft Project Idea: Holiday Gifts for Parents

Great Ideas Your Students Can Make and Take

Teachers, here are some great gift-giving ideas your students can make in the classrtoom then take home to give to their parents as a holiday present. One requires a pre-purchased candle, however the other only requires recyclable baby food jars. The jars project would be perfect for
younger students as many have younger brothers and sisters at home which makes obtaining a jar easier for the student.

Gift Option #1: Holiday Snow Globes

Recommended Ages: five to nine years with adult supervision

Materials Needed: one medium size baby food jar

White / silver glitter

Glue gun

Small plastic figure or decoration

Cold water

Instructions:

Step one: Completely wash and clean the baby food jars and lids and remove the outer label. Dry the jars and lids. This first step can be done several days before beginning the project.

Step two: Using a glue gun, attach decoration to the inside of the jar lid and let the glue dry. Decorations can be small figures such as Santa, snowman, reindeer, christmas tree, ect..

Step three: Fill the jar with cold water to ½ " from the top.

Step four: Add enough of either the white or silver glitter to the jar for a "snowy" effect when the jar is shaken.

Step five: Screw the lid on the jar tightly. Turn the jar upside down and shake. Enjoy a pretty snowglobe.

Optional: You can glue on a thin red ribbon to the lid of the jar for a gift. Also, you can glue artifical holly and berries or a piece of greenery and pinecones.
