Early Childhood Holiday Activities: Making Reindeer Crafts
Enjoy Two Different Cooking Craft Project Ideas
Parents and teachers of preschool and other young children will enjoy these ideas centering around the most famous reindeer of all, Rudolph. Please note: these ideas are not recipies for using reindeer meat, but rather using other ingredients to replicate reindeers and their "food".Idea #1: Rudolph
Recommended Ages: Preschool/Kindergarten with adult assistance
Materials Needed: one loaf of sliced bread, one jar of smooth peanut butter, knife, one small box of raisins, one bag of pretzel sticks, one jar of marashino cherries, paper plates and an optional bottle of apple juice for a drink with the sandwich.
Instructions:
Step one: With adult assistance, cut one slice of bread diagonally across so that you have two triangle shape pieces. (one slice of bread per child)
Step two: With "pointed" triangle edge of bread facing you on the plate, spread peanut butter over one slice of bread and place the other half of bread on top.
Step three: Add two raisins for the eyes of the reindeer. Add one cherry for Rudolph's nose on the pointed edge of the bread. Stick six pretzel sticks thru the peanut butter slices in the back of the bread for his antlers. Enjoy your sandwich with some apple juice.
Idea #2: Reindeer Food
Recommended Ages: Preschool and Kindergarten
Materials Needed: ½ cup of dry oats (regular oatmeal), ¼ cup of dry cereal, 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, 1 tablespoon of nuts, bowl, spoon, snack size bags, gift tags, ribbon, pen, whole punch
This makes one bag. For more than one bag, multiply the ingredients by the number of students making the food.
Instructions: This is a fun activity to involve your excited students to make just before christmas. Santa has his milk and cookies and now the reindeer will be able to have a treat on Christmas Eve.
Step one: In a bowl, combine the dry ingredience. Have the students help measure and stir the ingredience.
Step two: Spoon the reindeer mixture into small snack size bags.
Step three: Punch a small hole above the seal on the bag. Add ribbon gift tags made by the students that say To: Santa's Reindeer From: their name.
