5.) Curly or Wavy

In 06 celebs either had short or long hair, not many in between lengths going around. Short curly hair was popular with Sara Rue with her elegantly perfect curls. Christina Aguilera with short retro curls. Kelly Rowland sporting big multi-colored curls to match her red halter dress. Jessica Biel was spotted showing off her short fine hair with wide 1940's retro curls in 06. At the 2006 Country Music Awards Alison Krauss shined with her stunningly adorable short curly hair parted at an angle.

To get your very own retro curls for the new year is simple. All you need is either hot rollers, or a 2" curling iron. Heat protective solution, such as a gel or a heat protective spray. Hairspray, and depending on how you style your lovely curls you may need clips or pins.

You should start with towel dried hair. Spray your damp hair with the heat protective spray or gel and brush through.

Dry hair with the cool setting on your hair dryer while brushing to keep hair smooth and manageable.

When hair is dry, separate hair into sections, from bottom to top, pinning up the hair on top first.

Start curling hair from the bottom, spraying with hairspray after desired curl is achieved.

Work with sections from bottom to top. This creates volume and texture, and is simply easier to work with.

Decide where you want your part and finish curling in that direction.
When complete you will be left with big bouncy retro curls, perfect for any occasion.

One of my favorite cuts and styles is the razor cut. The stylist uses a razor to actually cut the ends of the hair, and layer it so that instead of curling under, the hair will now almost 'point' out away from the head. Using a product such as a hair wax to give the hair texture, the style that suit's the razor cut the best is the tousled look.

Some celebrities spotted with this razor style in 06 are Ashley Scott, Kimberly Caldwell, Martina McBride, and Tamie Sheffield.
