How to Make Green Bean Casserole

A major time in a person's life, is the process of making it in the world alone. For anyone, this can be a very overwhelming experience. One of the most missed pleasures will always be a warm home cooked meal. It is very hard to accept the fact that "mom" will no longer have dinner on the
table after a long day of work or school. In this "out on your own: cooking" series, I will teach all of you whom are new to the world of adulthood, just how simple it can be to prepare meals and side dishes. Not only will they be quick and easy to make; they will be affordable and delicious.

Green Bean Casserole

Ingredients and equipment:

1 can of condensed cream of mushroom soup (preferably: Campbell's)

4 cups of cooked green beans

½ cup of milk

1/8 teaspoon of pepper (optional)

1 1/3 cup of French fried onions

1 ½ quart casserole dish

Can opener

Measuring cups

Teaspoon

Mixing spoon

Preparing the green bean casserole:

The first step in preparing the green bean casserole is mixing the cream of mushroom soup, milk, and pepper in a 1 ½ quart casserole dish. Then, stir in the can of green beans and 2/3 cup of French fried onions. Place the dish in the oven, and bake for about 25 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Be sure to put on your oven mitts before attempting to take the casserole out of the oven. It will indeed be very hot. Next, top off the casserole with the rest of the French fried onions and bake for about 5 minutes or until the onions are lightly browned. Your casserole will now be ready to be served, but be careful, because it will be very hot. Some main course ideas to serve along side your green bean casserole could be: Glazed Ham, Ham with Pineapple, Roasted Turkey, Pork Chops, Shake and Bake Chicken, Lasagna, Chicken Cordon Blue, or keep it simple with some cheeseburgers on the grill.
