Reality television is all I hear about nowadays, and I do not see what the big deal is with it? I saw three seasons of "American Idol" and I was fed up with it. I saw "Survivor" and "Who Wants to Marry A Millionaire?" and I was fed up with all of those.
Whatever happened to television that told a story and is enteraining?
I watch "Grey's Anatomy" and "Heroes". "Grey's Anatomy" is on ABC, Thrusday Nights at 9:00PM and "Heroes" is on NBC, Monday Nights at 9:00PM. Both of these shows are new and different and both have incredible stories to tell.
When I watch television, I want to watch a story, a great story. I want to see and hear a story that makes me think about it for a week after I am done watching it.
After I am done watching "Grey's Anatomy" and "Heroes"; I cannot stop thinking about those two shows. I cannot stop thinking about the episodes and what the meaning was behind them or why some of the characters did what they did?
To me, reality television is a watered down version of peoples' lives put into an hour show, and it does not tell me the whole story, it does tell me what really happened or what really went on behind closed doors. It does not tell me what I really want to know. If I want to know about someone's life, I would just go straight to the source.
I knew people who have been on reality television. Five of my friends all tried out for "American Idol", none of them made it to the second round, but what got to me was they never told the audience about the real first round (the one before the judges Simon, Randy, and Paula), they never showed the people with real talent (all five of my friends have had professional singing from the Citrus College Musical Department), and they never showed the people who took rejection like men and women (all of my friends who were rejected did not complain, they just told me,"That is reality television for you! It is idiots and talentless people only. I cannot believe we suck ourselves into this madness, and for what? So we can make fools of ourselves? I am glad that I did not have my face on television for all to see. My true friends would not want to see me fail and neither would my family."
Now, I am no stranger to this either. I myself have tried out for a few reality television shows, and no one ever put me on the shows because I did not look like the stereotype the executives were looking for.
Good thing I did not end up on those shows. Most of the shows I tried out for really brought out the worst in people. If these people did not look stupid enough before, they did now, and all of their friends and families lost respect for them. I do not want to lose the respect of my friends or family.
Reality television, try reality bulls**t. It is not real, it is just stupid people making themselves look worse than what they already are.

Takeaways
  • Reality television, whatever.
Did You Know?
Reality television stinks.
