This Easter egg shaped plate charger is a fun craft kids can make as a gift for Mom, Dad, or even the grand parents. This simple Easter egg inspired plate charger is made of air drying clay and looks fabulous on your Easter dinner table. The kids can make this Easter egg inspired plate charger craft for less than $10, probably around $5 depending on what craft materials you already have. This is a fun project for kids as well as adults.
To Make An Easter egg inspired plate charger you will need:
Air Drying Clay (Like Active Clay)
Clay working tools (Or a tooth pick, pencil, paring knife...)
Pastel colored Acrylic Paints (Optional)
Clear Acrylic Spray Paint (Not Optional)
Embellishments, like beads, glass stones...(Optional)
Rolling pin
The first step is to cut off a piece of your air-drying clay. Roll it out to about 1/2 inch thick. You can make this Easter egg inspired plate charger as big or small as you want. I think about 14 inches tall is a very nice sized Easter bunny shaped platter. You do want to be able to see your kids art work underneath the dinner plate!
Now, use a toothpick to trace out your sized Easter egg shape on to the clay slab you rolled out. The good thing about clay is that you can draw your shape and if you do not like it, simply smooth it over with your finger. Once you have your sized Easter egg outline made, use a paring knife to cut the plate charger out. Remove any of the excess clay and use it for the next step.
Tip: Try drawing your Easter egg out on paper. Once you have the design right, cut it out with scissors. You can trace his outline on the clay with a toothpick. You should also have the kids lay a dinner plate out on the paper, so they know to make the egg larger and wider then the dinner plate.
