How to Make a Metal Coca Cola Cap Lampshade

This simple Metal Coca Cola Cap lampshade craft project is the perfect design feature in your home game room, Coke themed kitchen, or even in your family room. Coca Cola themed home decor items are extremely popular and have been around for quite a while.

This simple Metal Coca Cola Cap lampshade also looks great on a lamp made out of a glass coke bottle. Check out my other article How to Make a Lamp Out of a Glass Coke Bottle.

You can use any old or damage fabric lampshade as the base for this Metal Coca Cola Cap project to save money.

To make a Metal Coca Cola Cap lampshade you will need:

Fabric Lamp Shade

Sheet of acetate (red, clear, or yellow)

Clear hot glue

Metal Coca Cola Caps

Scissors

Black marker

If you are lucky enough to find a plastic lampshade you can skip this follow step and start gluing the Metal Coca Cola Caps on.

If not, the first step is to completely remove all of the fabric from your damaged or existing lampshade. Start by poking some scissors through the fabric, then cut away. Once you have the body of the fabric removed then start working on the material wrapped onto he wires. This will take some time, but is a great way to save a little money and salvage and exiting lampshade.

Tip: If you don't have a damaged or existing lampshade you want to get rid of you can buy these wire frames of a lampshade at any lampshade store. Some arts and crafts stores will also sell them.

Now, you need to cut out a plastic shade to glue back onto the wire frame you have left over. You can do this by using a sheet of clear or colored acetate. You can buy clear acetate or colored acetate at the arts and craft store. Go for some red colored acetate!

Now, take your piece of acetate. Lay it out on a table. Lay your wire lampshade form on the acetate on its side. Start rolling it and tracing with the marker to get the form.

Now, use your scissors to cut out the sheet of acetate. I like to cut slightly inside of the line of the marker so it is not left when you cut out the form.

Now, use your hot glue. Run a bead of glue around the top and bottom wires of the lampshade. Press the pieces of plastic acetate into place.
