According to nutritionists, every person should consume several portions of fruits and vegetables in their daily diet. Unfortunately our on the go lifestyles make it hard to find the time to sit down to home-cooked meals, fresh cut fruits, and natural snacks that give lasting boosts of energy versus the short rushes we get from synthetic and processed foods. Canned and frozen fruits and vegetables are fine for emergencies, but to be at your best, you need the best fuel. That's where juicing comes in. From common juices like orange, carrot and apple, to more exotic choices like sweet yam and beet, the list below will get you started on the right track for a healthier lifestyle.
Juice remedies
For colds and flus, stick with high vitamin C fruits and vegetables. A perfect combination is lemon, pineapple and ginger. Take a peeled lemon and juice with half pineapple. The pineapple need not be peeled if you are using a mesh basket centrifugal juicer, but for a press-juicer, you might want to peel it. Add a small piece of ginger and juice straight into a glass. For an additional benefit, add a bit of honey to this juice and feel better fast!
It's common knowledge that cranberries are good for bladder and kidney infections, but with the high amounts of sugar in most grocery brand cranberry juices, you'd have to drink gallons of it to get any real benefit. For a natural juice without extra sugar, juice a cup of cranberries (fresh or frozen) with a peeled pink grapefruit and a sweet red apple. This one should be served right away, and after a day or two or this juice, most infections should subside.
High blood pressure? Don't live your life having to take prescription medication, when a daily juice might help regulate your body naturally. For a liquid salad, take an apple, a kiwi, a celery stalk, a tomato, and a small bunch of parsley. Juice these things together and drink immediately to get all the rich benefits of this juice.
