Five Great Family Vacation Spots in Indonesia

There are many natural wonderlands to see in Indonesia. There are also a good number of extremely expensive, world class resorts with rates per night nearing $1,000 or more. The good news is that there are also some wonderful and fun spots that visiting families or residents can take their entire family for a reasonable rate and have a great time. This article is a review of what are, in our opinion, the top five family spots in Indonesia.

Jakarta - Dunia Fantasia or Fantasy World - While it might not quite be at the level of Disneyland this fun park is one of the most enjoyable amusement parks I have ever taken my family to. A myriad of amusement rides with fantastic roller coasters, wild water rafting rides that I thought were as good as or better than what we rode at Disneyworld in Florida. Just like any Disney resort you can enjoy parades and cultural events at the park as well.

Bogor - West Java - Near Jakarta - Tama Safari or Safari Park - This is one of the best wild animal experiences that I have ever had and has to be just about the next best thing to going on a real African safari. High in the mountains above Bogor and Jakarta, albeit at some distance, Taman Safari is a very popular park. The park has over 100 species of wild animals that are fortunate enough to live in as close to their natural environment as an enclosed park space could be. You actually drive your car into the interior of each animal type enclosure. Believe me, Bengal tigers look a lot different when they are actively playing only meters away from your automobile. The same is true for the North American grizzly bear which enjoys standing on its hind legs and dwarfing your car as you pass buy. No animatronics here folks, this is the real McCoy.
