Where to Find 2008 State and Federal Tax Forms in Bismarck, North Dakota

Or Just Get Them On-Line

It's that time of year again. No, not the holiday season. It's tax time, that time that makes many of us cringe, while others are prepared well in advance. Whether you file on February 2nd or April 15th, you will need the tax forms. In Bismarck, North Dakota, there are a few places to
find state and federal tax forms.

Federal Income Tax Forms

According to the Bismarck IRS office, located at 2911 N. 14th Street in the Kirkwood Bank Building, the 1040 and 1040EZ forms can be picked up at the main branch of the Post Office on the corner of 3rd Street and Rosser. Use the Rosser Avenue entrance for tax forms, because they're in the same part of the ground floor as the post office boxes, and not in the counter area. That's a good thing, because it means you can get to them any time, not just when the post office is open.

They're also available at the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library at 515 N. 5th Street. The forms, and the guidebooks for filling them out, are to the left of the check-out desk.

The IRS office noted that many people, including those who plan to itemize deductions, rental property owners, farmers, ranchers, and small business owners, need forms that may not be available at the post office or the library. Those forms are available at the IRS office in the Kirkwood Bank building, or you can download them from www.irs.gov, along with the instructions. You can also call the IRS at 1-800-829-3676 and have the forms you'll need sent directly to you.

North Dakota State Tax Forms

According to the North Dakota Tax Department, the state tax forms aren't out yet. They should be available in late December, or possibly as late as early January. Also, they aren't as easy to find as the federal forms.

Yes, Lisa -- but then, Bismarck is the capital city. Now if it were Cando, ND, it would be, oh, 200 miles or so? Or to make it easy, go on-line and download!

Heh! At least you HAVE an IRS office within 200 miles. No sharp sticks coming your way. (:
