Employment is a funny thing, it can be with you one minute, and gone the next. People change jobs, and hop careers almost as fast as the weather here in Atlanta changes. I am going to outline three key points in finding good jobs with reputable companies. 1.) If you're already employed and looking for a new company, then by all means start your search while you're still recieving income. Do some research on any prospective company you're going to. Look online or get some feedback from someone who currently works there. Learn about the climate of the new comany.
2.) If you like what you see and hear about the new company then by all means go and apply! Make sure to have an updated resume and a series of consistent, and reliable references, preferably professional, but personal references are good to have as well. Good professional references include fellow coworkers and members of management. Good personal references are usually platonic friends.
3.) Try to relegate your job scouting to Monday-Wednesday, unless otherwise noted by the prospective employer. Also, make sure to try and do your scouting in the morning if at all possible. It is also very beneficial to know someone within the prospective company who may be able to put in a good word for you. Having a network of influential contacts is invaluable in today's job market!
