Picture this, it is a beautiful warm sunny day and you are walking hand-in-hand with the one you love along one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

As you look up at the crisp blue sky, you feel a warm, gentle breeze blowing through your hair. And the only sound you hear is the waves gently splashing against the shore. At this moment, your state of mind is in total peace. "Life is good" Everything is going well, and you have no worries.

Bam! Snap out of it...

As reality sets in, you realize, the sun hasn't shined in almost two months, you can't remember the last time you held hands with the one you love, that gentle breeze is more like a cold winter wind. And you're state of mind, is at anything but, total peace.

You might be worrying about a loved one, who is sick, or maybe the bills are piling up and you don't see a raise happening any time soon. Or maybe credit card debt is starting to overwhelm you. The kids need a new pair of shoes, the car needs a new set of brakes, or maybe you are alone and are desperately looking to find that someone special to share life with. After all, you are not getting any younger. Where did the last 10, 20, 30 years go?

Just how many wrong turns, did you take going down life's path? Will things get better? Are you living your dream? If you are in the 90% group, you are most likely dealing with the everyday rat race. Such as deadlines, phone calls, getting to work on time, or getting the kids to school. Or maybe the relationship with your spouse is on the rocks.

If you are human, you most likely have been faced with some of these issues. And the one thing that keeps us holding on is hope!

Hope is a powerful commodity to have. It can get us through the day and get us through the week and for the hard-core strugglers it can get us through the year!

But what keeps hope alive? Well, according to the research on human behavior, it mostly falls on the pursuit of happiness and wanting to live life to the fullest.

"Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" is one of the most famous phrases in the United States Declaration of Independence.

Is it Hope That Keeps You Holding On?

Thanks for sharing a great article. Happiness isn't something far away to dream of, it's right in front of us each day. Happiness is what we make of it.

Beautiful article and so true! If we treated everyone in our lives each day as if it were the last we would have with them, wouldn't it be fantastic? I've learned to take nothing for granted in life and find joy in tiny treasures! You have a wonderful heart!

Nice heartfelt article and wonderful sentiment. When you've lost hope, you've truly lost everything, so it stands to reason that the opposite is true. :)

Very nice Bobby! Hope is what my husband and I hang onto when theres nothing (we THINK) left...but then like you said, you realize you have kids to love, pets, a honey, whatever, and it pulls you thru and gives you hope. Another coping skill for life's problems is addressed in my article"The worthlessness of worry" Will you give me your thoughts? It kinda runs along the same lines as yours.Thanx!

Bobby that was a wonderful article. Seemed so heartfelt and wonderfully well written. The little things in life really do make a difference as I tell my niece all the time. I tell her to try and find something nice about each and every day to be happy about, you would be surprised how easy it is to forget to appreciate the little things that make us happy. Loved your article.

Wow, the first 2 paragraphs just grab your attention. That's good writing my friend. A unique and timely reminder of what's important and I for one need reminding sometimes.

Refreshing, Bobby, and so full of truth. I try to practice living in the moment which is another way of learning to appreciate all the little joys in life like the examples you used on this last page of your content here.

Wow, Bobby, that was beautiful! Hope is definitely key to surviving life. I need to work on having more Hope. I also agree it is the little things that make Life worthwhile. I savor the little things all the time. Great job on this!

Very nice, Bobby. I'm happiest when I'm with my grandson because right now I'm a major part of his whole world. Unfortunately, that won't last forever. Before long I'll just be that old lady that wants to hug him at the most embarrasing moments; some stodgy old fuddy-duddy who wants to spoil his fun. So I'm going to savor every last minute I can get while I can get it. And if I can ever get my hands on my adorable 2 year old granddaughter (who lives clear across the country right now), I'm going to do the same with her. Life is too short not to enjoy it while you can. That's a fact! Thanks for reminding us.

You were right I did like it. I cheat in life though. I am living my own simple but comfortable dream. Fishing in paradise for profit.
