Switzler Jammin Dominates at Palm Beach Kennel Club

The anticipated match up of early speed greyhounds versus hard-charging closers never materialized January 20th in the running of the $25,000 He's My Man Classic at the Palm Beach Kennel Club. Instead, Florida racing fans were treated to the stakes race equivalent of the BCS final between Florida and Ohio State. Switzler Jammin was Florida; the rest of the field was the Buckeyes in this one. Switzler Jammin embarrassed the other seven greyhounds in the He's My Man Classic and now will set his sights on trying to pick up the $20,000 bonus that goes to any greyhound that can win any two of what Palm Beach Kennel Club has designated as its "Big Three" Stakes Series races.

Switzler Jammin came into the He's My Man Classic with remarkable credentials, having won 24 of his 33 outings at Palm Beach Kennel Club and at one point having run off a string of 13 straight wins and 18 victories out of 19 times to post. The black 71 pound male, owned by Norman Rader and racing out of his Rader Kennel, shot up the grading ladder last summer, winning his first five outings before encountering rough going in Grade A. Gaining some experience, Jammin then made the finals of the 2006 Palm Beach Kennel Club Puppy Stakes, where he was run down in the stretch by his own brother, Switzler Wytecap. Immediately after that defeat, Switzler Jammin went on a tear, one which lasted all the way up to this stakes event. The He's My Man Classic bears the name of a prodigious Palm Beach superstar from the 1980s, and lately Switzler Jammin closely resembles that beloved racer.
