So Cupid forgot you this year? Don't let the overgrown cherub's neglect ruin your whole night. Remember, Valentine's Day doesn't just have to celebrate romantic love. Take charge, gather up your gal pals, and make some memories anyway.

Single and Fabulous

Go shopping for your night out with the girls. Get a new dress that makes you feel stunning. Splurge on new shoes or accessories too. Use the event to remind yourself that you're worth it. Think of all the reasons you deserve to be pampered: success at work, small goals you've met, relationships you've built with friends and co-workers, what a great daughter/niece/next-door-neighbor you are. You deserve that new Ipod, silver bangle or those shiny diamond studs.

Plan an afternoon at the spa with your best friends. Get massages, manicures, pedicures, facials, and then share all the latest celebrity gossip in the steam room. With fresh, clean pores and glossy nails, hit the town in your sexy new outfits.

Try a new restaurant in your area or pick a place with a fun atmosphere, like an Indian club with belly dancers or Dave and Busters. Order a bunch of appetizers instead of dinner so you have room for lush desserts. Or, save dessert for a trip to a snazzy chocolate bar after dinner.

Since you have some quality time with your friends, take advantage of an adventurous activity. Stop by an ice-skating rink, spend a few hours at a salsa club, take in a comedy improv show, or stop by the controversial modern art exhibit. Be creative and try something new for a story you'll remember more than just another bouquet of roses.

Mystery Date and Twizzlers

If you don't feel like going out, have a good, old-fashioned slumber party. Rent your favorite movies, order pizza, and stock up on cookie dough, ice cream, and other munchies. Stay inside, curled up with a few fashion magazines, board games and your best friends, safe and cozy from the February cold. It may seem childish, but it's a great way to reconnect with friends after life and careers have pulled you apart.
