I always hated all those little Tupperware lids and bowls my mother had cluttering up her cabinets when I was a kid. You'd open up a cabinet door and all the little lids would fall out all over the floor and go everywhere. When I got older and got my own place, I decided I wouldn't use Tupperware or re-use the butter containers like so many people do. Instead I use Baggies, and sometimes Tin Foil. I usually use the Press and Seal bags because I find them easy to use. I like using baggies to store open food that way I can see exactly what it is I have in my fridge. I recently bought a box of Ziplock quart size freezer bags with the easy zipper and used them.
The top of the box states it has an easy slide zipper and sure seal for easy access. So I started using them to hold my leftover's in and to store things like open cheese, lunch meat and anything else that is open in the refrigerator. I did not over stuff the baggies, nor did I put extra heavy food in them. They do seal quite well, but if you open them too fast the easy zipper will slide right off the baggie and your hard pressed to get it back on the baggie so that it works the right way.
I thought maybe it was just something that happened to one baggie. One baggie with a deformed zipper I could have understood. But when it happened three more times over the course of a week, I knew I would not be buying these baggies again.
You may ask if I opened the baggie furiously trying to get at the food inside, I assure you I did not. I easily slid the easy zipper open and it came right off the end instead of stopping where it should have. I now make it a point to stop short of where it should stop by itself.
If you're careful the easy zipper won't slide off, but I really don't think the manufacturers did enough testing of this product before they began selling it. I wonder how many other times this has happened to people who paid good money for these things.
Maybe it was just this one box, but I doubt it. If I'm going to pay the money they are charging for baggies I want to be satisfied with what I get and I was not satisfied with this purchase.
