Wii Workout: How Philadelphia's Mickey DeLorenzo Lost Weight With His Wii Exercise Regimen
Many people will say that my generation is a very lazy generation, the generation of the video gamer. Video games become increasingly more popular. Back in my day children stopped going out and playing in the yard and began sitting inside playing the
Atari and Nintendo. Now it's getting even worse, even schools are encouraging kids not to get any exercise by not requiring physical education. Games are becoming even more addicting like World of Warcraft. One person even died playing a video game for too long last year. Well now times have changed. Thanks to the Nintendo Wii you can now play video games and also stay in good health.
Philadelphia resident Mickey DeLorenzo is proving that not all video gamers are lazy. Twenty-five year old Mike DeLorenzo and his fiancé were duking it out playing boxing on Wii Sports, a video game for the new Nintendo Wii, when he realized they both ended up breathless and glistening with sweat. It was then that DeLorenzo came up with the idea to put Wii Sports to good use.
"On the fly, as I was typing my blog posts, I set up a daily regimen and went at it 100 percent," said DeLorenzo. DeLorenzo weighed 181 pounds on December 3rd but after playing Wii Sports for six weeks and 21 hours he had lost nine pounds and that was despite eating his usual amount of food over the holidays, if not for that he probably would've lost even more.
DeLorenzo's workout included 30-minute sessions of Wii tennis, bowling, boxing, and baseball. During his experiment DeLorenzo chronicled his progress on his blog at WiiNintendo.net, which included weight-loss charts, and before and after pictures. DeLorenzo, who says he has never before worked out or dieted, is starting to become a fitness guru as one fitness website has already asked him to help create Wii workouts for the website which has lead to DeLorenzo buying the web address WiiWorkout.net. DeLorenzo's blog has also gotten a lot of attention from fans and the news.
