Getting Organized for 2009
How to Keep Your New Year's Resolution and Making it Stick in 5 Easy Steps!
For so many years we all have made resolutions and broken them. It is so hard to keep up with the resolution that typically after several weeks, we eventually forget about it.My goal this year, to set a hopefully attainable goal for my New Year's resolution. My goal, to become better organized. I know that like so many, it sounds like a long stretch, as always giving up. But there are methods to holding true to my goal. Below are
Over the years, I have accumulated a lot of stuff. Each month I have made myself gather things up that are unwanted or just collecting to much dust and well, I don't have time to keep up with them any more. So, after much thought, I start a bag that I take and donate to one of the many local charity thrift stores in my town. This alone has helped me begin my quest for 2009. I figured that if I could keep up with this goal, how difficult would it be to hopefully maintain the full goal of organizing my entire home and possibly more.
So that I don't get overwhelmed I have broken my resolution into 5 steps to help me maintain it. It might help you with yours as well.
1) Write down the resolution. (GET ORGANIZED!)
a) Pick a part of the house to organize.
1) The room picked the kitchen.
b) What will be need to organize the kitchen?
1) Containers
2) Trash can
3) Bin to put stuff in that is to give away.
c) Where to begin in the kitchen?
1) A Utensil drawer
d) Make small notes to help everyone remember where things belong, for example a 3x5 card posted on the inside door of a cabinet that tells each member what should be in that particular cabinet.
e) Get rid of everything immediately that has been set up to go to charity.
2) Keep daily notes on the progress. This can be done by keeping a small spiral notebook where it will see it everyday.
3) Recruit a friend or family member someone that is highly motivated to reach their resolution goal as well.
a) In the beginning keep close contact, as about goal. This doesn't have to be done daily. That may end up irritating either person.
