The Wonders of the Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal is one among the Seven Wonders of the World. Only three hours from India's capital, New Delhi, it has remained to be among the most beautiful tourist spots found in India and has been flocked to by foreigners for many years. The Taj Mahal, has been known to be the "best-ever
symbol of eternal love." It stands along the riverbanks of Jamuna at Agra, within Uttar Pradesh's territorial bounds.
The Taj Mahal is one of India's greatest architectural wonders. It was constructed by the Mughal emperor, ShahJahan, way back in 1631 in loving memory of his wife, Arjumand Banu, and later on came to be known as Mumtaz Mahal, which means "Distinguished of the Palace".
This world famous dome sits on a large white marble terrace arising from a tall ruby colored sandstone base and is lined with four tapering minarets. The emperor Shahjahan sought expert advice all the way from Europe and the Middle East when he was planning the legacy that took about twenty thousand people more than twenty-two years to finish building. The Taj Mahal can be reached via cheap modes of travel which was actually used as a broad moat defense for Agra's Great Red Fort. This was the capital city of the empire of Mughal during those days.
The three famous designers of the Taj Mahal are Ustad Ahmad, a Persian engineer, Austin de Bordeaux, the silversmith, and Geronimo Veroneo, the Italian. It has been rumored that the materials used in making the Taj Mahal were actually gathered from the different corners of the whole world; such as the hills of Markana, China, Turkey, Tibet, the Himalayas, Burma, and Afghanistan.
