With the coming of the New Year, many people make New Year's resolutions. Among the most popular ones that people will make this year will be to stop smoking. Anyone who is a smoker and has tried to quit can tell you that this is a huge task to accomplish but you can do it. Many people every day lay down the habit and never return. Of course many of us who are trying to stop will no doubt go to as many of the ex- smokers that we can and get tips from them on how they quit. Among the tips they will give you will be the old faithful chewing gum or breathe mint technique and although yes it will keep you busy, it won't stop the cravings. Many people will no doubt want a more natural approach to stopping smoking. After all you have spent years putting the harmful chemicals in your body and you don't want to just replace them with other chemicals or the same chemicals at a lower dose. Many of the products to stop smoking will still contain nicotine but it staggered smaller doses to help wean you off the habit. Many people just want to stop the nicotine immediately though and with the abrupt halt of nicotine comes the inevitable anxiety, floods of stress, agitations, along with fatigue, nausea, head ache, and more. When you stop smoking this means you have as many physical withdrawal symptoms as you do emotional symptoms. Now we have the what it does to you part and we have what helps part of the alleviation of withdrawal symptoms but what about the others and how can we improve our success rate.

To start off you need to make sure you know the reasons that you are quitting. The top reason has to be for you. Something for your health or well being. The success rate falls for individuals who quit for someone else. Try writing these down and putting them where you can see them as a reminder. I was given this piece of advice years off a website called quitassist.com and it really does help get you in the right mind frame and keep you there.
