What to Write in Christmas Cards
Keys to Making Your Cards More Special
One of the toughest parts of sending Christmas Cards is our own written messages on the inside of the card. If we merely sign our name, it looks impersonal and if we write very much, we will never get them sent out. The question becomes what do we do?Here are a couple suggestions to deal with Christmas card message
Writing too little
We do not want to write too little in the card because it looks impersonal. We have all gotten the standard Christmas Cards with nothing but a signature. It just does not seem to communicate a feeling of warmth or personal greeting. Writing too little has nothing to do with the number of words that you use. The standard greeting card is only about 30-40 words in length. This paragraph has more words in it. You might write thirty words and say nothing of importance. You can also write something simple and short that can say a great deal.
Writing too much
You will not be able to write an entire letter to everyone you send Christmas cards to unless your list is short. Before Christmas cards were created people wrote letters to one another wishing them to have a Merry Christmas. One of the reasons that Christmas cards were made was to allow people to send more Christmas greetings. Do not forget to make the card have a personal touch. Include something of personal meaning to those you are writing.
What to write
You may want to go with a simple but significant message that communicates something additional to the card itself. Be sure that you write something that is heartfelt and genuine. There is nothing worse than getting a Christmas card that feels like the person wrote it out of obligation or duty. If you are sending Christmas cards because you feel an obligation, just forget it.
How to say it with a little flair
There are a number of ways to write something with a little bit of flair. You can tie into the message of the Christmas card. If the cards you are sending have a message to them, tie your writing in with the card. You can also add some meaning to simple Christmas cards just by a simple written statement.
