Thousands of people across the world have job interviews every day. Job interviews can be a nerve-racking experience. You wonder what you should wear for the interview, what kind of questions the interviewer will ask you, and you also wonder when to arrive for the interview. This article will answer all of these questions and more as you prepare for your job interview.

The first thing you should do is anticipate and think. Anticipate any questions that the interviewer may ask. The interviewer may ask personal questions that will make you feel uncomfortable. You can refuse to answer these questions or be as brief as possible while still giving a good answer. Later in this article, we will discuss things that an interviewer is legally not allowed to ask you. Before going to the interview, research the company's history and corporate profile. Learn when the company was founded, learn a little about the financial history of the company, and learn the name of the CEO or another person in a top-level management position with the company. This signifies that you are serious about your application, and will do your best for the greater good of the company.

The second thing you should do is decide what to wear. For your interview, a good rule of thumb is to dress as if you were applying for a position above the one you are actually applying for. Men should wear a matching suit and tie, with nice trouser socks and matching leather shoes-either pull-over or lace-with a leather belt that matches the colors of the shoes and socks. Men should also remember to shave their facial hair. To the interviewer, this indicates a strong attention to detail, and also says that you place a great deal of importance on how well you represent yourself. Women should wear a nice business pantsuit with a matching blouse, matching shoes, matching socks, and carry a handbag or purse that matches the colors of the suit. Neither men nor women should wear a heavy fragrance when going in for a job interview. Others may have allergies, or may be sensitive to strong scents, which can, in turn cause them to not want to hire you to work with their firm.

Takeaways
  • Job interviews can be nerve racking
  • When going on a job interview, dress your best
  • Know a little about what you may be getting yourself into with the company
